Set in Nagasaki, 1964, Kokuho follows Kikuo, a young orphan taken under the wing of a legendary Kabuki actor. Alongside the actor's son Shunsuke, he dedicates his life to the traditional art form. Spanning decades of ambition, loyalty, rivalry and betrayal, the film portrays the making of a Kabuki legend and the journey toward becoming Japan's greatest master of the craft.
